About our organization

Welcome to the Humane Society/Animal Resources
of Dekalb, a non-profit organization located in Fort
Payne, AL.  As the Humane Society/Animal
Resources, we are dedicated to helping change the
lives of animals in our community.  The HS/AR has
cared for approximately 75,000 animals since 1988
and investigated thousands of complaints of animal
abuse & neglect during that time.
After twenty years of contracting with our county
government to house stray & unwanted animals,
our county has built their own animal control
facility.  They are now responsible for providing
shelter as well as animal control services.  This
allows us to devote 100% of our time, resources &
efforts to abused, abandoned & neglected animals.
We have implemented many programs over the
years. Please see our services page to view all of
our programs.
About Us
"Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at
stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we
look the other way."                                                       -Martin Luther King Jr.
